Using a palette of custom-designed cherry wood panels, Ghiora Aharoni Design Studio created a warm, slightly dark entrance to the apartment in order to enhance the transition to the light-filled living room with its wide vistas onto the Hudson River. The room is washed with light reflected off the river, and coves in the ceiling allow artificial light in the room to be subtly controlled in addition to enhancing the spaciousness of the room. Soft cove lighting is utilized throughout the apartment, and the absence of exposed light sources underscores the spatial volumes with their planes of cherry wood or white.
